Nova Scotia Human Rights Commission

NEW: Restorative Boards of Inquiry

Restorative Boards of Inquiry our latest initiative.

Since January 2012, the Nova Scotia Human Rights Commission has pioneered the use of restorative practices for resolution of human rights complaints. This exciting development makes us leaders among provincial human rights commissions in applying this model. Results so far are very positive.

The NSHRC is in the initial phase of another groundbreaking development: Restorative Boards of Inquiry. As with the resolution conference method of handling complaints, an aim of restorative BOIs is to repair the relationships between the parties involved.

We anticipate working cooperatively with parties to help them resolve their human rights complaints. We are excited to help Nova Scotians become more aware of their human rights and to assist them to find better ways to manage their human rights disputes.
