Each year, the Nova Scotia Human Rights Commission recognizes people or organizations which have made a significant contribution to advancing or protecting human rights. A ceremony honouring them takes place on December 10, 2012 at Millwood School in Lower Sackville, Nova Scotia.

Nova Scotians are encouraged to nominate individuals and organizations in their communities for this award.  Nominations should relate to the International Human Rights Day theme for the year.
